Crazy Hair

During this year Dolls with Arty Attitudes have explored the parts that go into making a doll - body, arms, legs, heads and costuming.  All of our dolls ended up with quite normal hair so we decided to look at alternate hair for our dolls.
Lisa and Suzie used a brillo pad and came up with kinky hair.

Charlie used feathers to finish off her doll's head.

Elinor Peace Bailey Challenge

The challenge was issued.
We each took a fabric to use for our own Silver Wing.  Wow what a challenge for some of us.  We are just not used to using that much color at least not for the skin!

But she is a fantasy figure so we gave it a go!

Our newest doll maker and most color adventurist Lisa finished her doll first.
And, entered her into a calligraphy event.
Lisa is a very talented calligrapher.

The other girls made it to the May meeting while Lisa's girl was still in Olympia
 being admired by the masses.

In June we all together for their group photo to send to Elinor as a testament to our challenge.

A colorful group of dolls that were most definitely out of our comfort range and a delightful challenge.  Thank you Elinor Peace Bailey for the fun!

Elinor Peace Bailey Challenge

Elinor Peace Bailey has challenged us to make Silver Wing.

The fabrics are wild and fun.   The pattern is a hoot and a challenge for all of us.
Taking the challenge of the pattern into consideration, we decided to spread our challenge over two months -April our goal was to have the doll basically done.  - May we will dress her and finish her.
Come join us for our May meeting to see our challenge results.

We meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month (next is May 14, 2015) at Joanne Fabrics classroom - Crossroads Mall, Bellevue, WA.  6:30 p.m.

Monochromatic

The March challenge for Dolls with Arty Attitudes was to make a monochromatic doll.

Dolls with Arty Attitudes for March

Lisa selected ivory for her color.
Her doll is an antique porcelain doll with a new cloth body.
She re-purposed different laces for a lovely little miss.

Charlie selected lavender.  This floral miss also has lavender tinted hair.

Diane's color is turquoise.
Her lady primly sits in shades of turquoise.

Ronda used red.
Shades of light and dark red photographed very orange.

Can't wait for our next challenge - an Elinor Peace Bailey project!

Do Something......

.... with the Hoffman fat square we received for entering in 2014.
We all received the same fabric in various colors but the same pattern.

Using our fat squares we came up with some very different dolls.  A little bit here and there.
